"Grow with your trees"
TIP to improve your environment: By encouraging proper structure and good health from the early stages of life, you will be giving your trees the best opportunity to thrive. For ways to save money, ask about our pre-arranged annual tree pruning program.
At the moment we are focused primarily on the long term development and care of small to medium sized trees.
We are happy to recommend another tree service if we will not be able to handle your request.
Tree Planting - Tree care starts with having a tree. Fresh Cut is a full landscaping service. We'll help you select the right tree for the right location and make sure it gets planted properly. If you'd like discuss any of the other improvements you are thinking about for your property, we are all ears.
Tree Development - Regular pruning should start 2 years after your tree is planted. Whether you are just looking for a one time chop, or something a little more long term we are here to help. Fresh Cut has a tree maintenance program that we recommend to anyone with a young tree.
Tree Replacement - Have us come evaluate your diseased tree. If necessary we can do a removal, get the stump ground out and plant a new tree planted in its place.
Tree Removal - Unfortunately storm damage, disease and dry conditions take their toll. We do removals, however will suggest that your trees are kept in the landscape until they are not healthy enough to recover.
Black Knot is caused by fungus and if left untreated has the potential to kill the tree. However since it spreads very efficiently, the primary concern is how it can effect the aesthetics of an entire community.
TIP to improve your environment: As dead wood rots insects, and therefor birds, get attracted to it. If you are interested in getting more birds into your yard, we can cut your dead tree down to a safe size so that it can be used to enrich your yards biodiversity.
Dutch Elm Disease (DED)
D.E.D is a costly and deadly disease that affects all species of elm trees in Alberta. It is caused by a fungus that clogs the elm tree's water conducting system, causing the tree to die. The fungus is primarily spread from one elm tree to another by 3 beetle species.
The beetles are attracted to weak and dying trees, which serve as breeding sites. Once the beetles have pupated and turned into adults, they leave the brood gallery and fly to healthy elms to feed, transporting the fungus on their bodies from one tree to the next.
Prune elm trees only October 1 – March 31. (law)
Do not transfer or store Elm firewood.
Burn or bury elm wood (min. depth of 25 cm).
If you have a struggling elm get it assessed by our certified arborist.
